Lessons Learned

Hey, all! I am linking up again with Karen from Celebrate Life for this week's Lessons Learned.

- Sometimes there are no words to express how you feel about honoring the fallen and the brave, but sometimes there is more profound meaning in that silence than anything you could ever say.

- On a lighter note, dishes don't wash themselves. Trust me! I have given them puh-lenty of time!

- Ear infections seriously hurt! Now I get why my son screams, when he gets them.

- Dogs like to eat poop.

- Dogs like to lick your face.

- Dogs like to eat poop, and then come in your house and lick your face. Ugh!

- When dogs get caught eating poop, and you yell at them, they immediately look up, with ears perked up, like "What? I wasn't doing anything." Yes, you were! Gross!

- I still love my dogs.

- Most of my lessons are learned from my dogs, haha.

- Oh, here's one about the boy - I think he just might turn into a saltine cracker, if he continues eating them at the rate he is going.

- When you teach your child to say "Excuse Me," when he toots, this is good for nice manners. Sometimes, you have to ask him if he tooted, so he has a little reminder to say "Excuse me." This is great, until you are in the spaghetti sauce section at the grocery store, with people around you, he toots, and says, "Mommy, you tooted?" CRINGE... "No, buddy; that was you. Did you toot?" "Yeah." "What do you say?" "Excuse me." "That's nice. You're excused. Good manners." (In a loud voice, so hopefully the people around me know it wasn't me that tooted.) I freaking die!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lessons Learned

I am linking up with Karen from Celebrate Life for this week's Lessons Learned. Here goes:

- Swiss cheese is a definite, falling-out-of-the-mouth No-Go for Mr. Toddler.

- Laundry does not like to wash itself, even if you give it plenty of time and really, really wish it to.

- No matter how much attention you give your pitiful, needy little dog, he will still try to run away every.single.chance.he.gets.

- Yelling at your dog for above reason does not make you a mean pet owner; it makes you a caring pet owner. Plus, it gets a little annoying having to cover the same hole under the same spot in the fence every.single.time.he.goes.outside.

- Dogs can be annoying.

- I love dogs.

Lessons Learned

I'm linking up with Karen again from Celebrate Life for this week's Lessons Learned. Here goes:

- No matter how bad your day, a smile on your child's face will always make you happy.

- "Letting Go & Letting God" is something I should not forget.

- Even after brushing a grocery bag's worth of dog hair off your three dogs, you still have to vacuum every single day!

- Naps make me happy...and more sleepy. What to do...

- My child really does find it necessary to sit in the bathroom with me every time I go in there. And give me toilet paper. And try to sit in my lap. Could this get any more difficult? Yes, I do appreciate this time now, because it won't last forever. Believe me, I do, because when he's 13, I won't WANT him in there with me, haha.

Lessons Learned

I'm linking up with Karen again from Celebrate Life for this week's Lessons Learned. Hmm...let's see...what did I learn?

- Although my child has two hands, while he is picking up his toys, he will only use one of those hands. So, picking up ALL of his trucks will take about 10 years.

- Patience is a virtue. See previous topic.

- When I pick up all of his books, he will wonder why they're not on the floor and pull them all out...again. These, however, he does not put back, even using only one hand.

- Playing with your dog by teasing it with a dryer sheet is all fun and games, until he gets it and eats it, before you can get it back. That should be interesting...

- Peas, like carrots, are evil, too. They are a little better, though, because they're round and squishy. Just not round and squishy in his mouth.

Lessons Learned

I'm linking up with Karen over at Celebrate Life again for this week's Lessons Learned. It's amazing how much you don't even realize you learn, until you start jotting it down! So, here goes:

- Humidity sucks!
*Note to self - Move to a place where humidity does not exist for majority of the year.

- Hubs teaching toddler son to make fart noises under armpit is cute/funny, yet I foresee quite mortifying moments with this newly learned technique in my future.

- Little boys don't care how much they sweat; they just like to be outdoors!

- Dogs like ice cubes for a treat just as much as they like their bones.

- A motorcycle riding grandpa who lives in the mountains will always have a soft side, when it comes to his little "Hito."

Lessons Learned

I am linking up again with Karen from Celebrate Life for this week's "Lessons Learned." Have I mentioned before that she and her husband recently finalized their adoption and brought home their daughter, Charlotte, from the Ukraine? She is adorable! Plus, they're a military family! That's why I fell in love with her blog, when I came across it. Inspiring, since we are on a similar path... You should check out her blog, as well. Here are some of the lessons I learned this week:

- Sometimes, my child will want his milk in a regular cup and sometimes, he will want it in a sippy cup. Whichever cup I put it in - he will usually want it in the other type of cup. Never fails!

- "Wocwit" = (Translation) = Chocolate

- An old trained beagle will stay around its master outside without a leash on, unless he finally gets to meet the neighbor's dog, that he constantly plays with through the backyard fence. In this case, he will get so excited, that he will take off running down the street, ears flapping in the wind, causing his master to run after him. He will then see a cat in another neighbor's yard... Good thing he's just a baying/barking hound dog, and his master is a PT champ.

- It is enjoyable to see your toddler getting bigger, watching him learn to put his shoes on by himself, learning to pull up his shorts by himself. When your husband comes home from work and remarks that your son's shorts on backwards - that's ok. This is just a sign that he is still my little boy (and that we didn't go out in public). *Tear* *Sigh*

- Apparently, carrots are evil.

- The hubs and I believe our son could live off of condiments alone. We are going to become ketchup and ranch dressing packet hoarders, haha.

Lessons Learned

I am linking up with Karen again over at Celebrate Life for this week's Lessons Learned. Here are some of the lessons I learned over the past week or so:

- Stepping out in faith and going to the church we have been interested in attending was such a blessing! Silly us for not going before!

- "Popasicles" make a busted lip better and make the tears dry quicker, too!

- When toddler is helping daddy install a storm door, daddy needs to make sure not to put the screws in between his lips for easier access when he's working up high. What will toddler do next? One guess. Monkey See...Monkey Do. How would you explain that one to the EMT's?

- Watching Ghost Adventures on the Travel Channel on Saturday nights will certainly make you start to think you are hearing/seeing/feeling things in the night.

- Sometimes, people will surprise you with their loving kindness and generosity, leaving you feeling blessed and on the right path.

Lessons Learned

I am linking up with Karen over at Celebrate Life for "Lessons Learned." Here are some things I learned this week, that may be of value to other parents:

- When your 2 1/2 year old learns how to turn the bathroom light on and off, by standing on his tippy-toes and using the verrrry end of his fingertip, he will insist that it be his job...from that moment on. Do NOT forget that!

- When Little Mr. Independent insists on throwing away his own diaper and has issues with the trashcan lid, if he asks for help, don't just say, "It's ok, we can fix it later." This will cause him to bring the garbage can lid in to the living room around his body, holding the other part, both of which will then be deposited onto the coffee table.

- Time-out is still effective even when your toddler starts to say "One, two, three, four...Go time-out!" To you...haha. And then you come home to a door that is hard to open; to learn that three of his toys were put in time-out. And they were facing the door. I guess they were misbehaving.
